The building itself is state of the art, made from titanium it houses
over 3000 exhibits as well as café and shop all spread over three
floors. The building is spectacular and is one of the latest landmarks
produced as part of the Clyde side regeneration which is going on at the
present time.
Contained within the Glasgow Science Centre is an Imax cinema with a screen
larger than a 5-a-side football pitch. The 12,000-watt speakers produce
a sound quality unrivalled by any other. Showing 2D and 3D films in a
way that will make you think twice about seeing a film in the normal way
at your local cinema.
For a truly spectacular view of Glasgow why not go to the top of the Glasgow
Tower at the Science Centre. Standing at 105m high, make sure you have
a head for heights. Designed by Richard Horden Associates the Glasgow
Tower is the only building in the world which is capable of turning all
the way round from the ground up. What better place to have such a wonderful
piece of engineering than at the Glasgow Science Centre.
Visit the science mall for a vast range of hands on exhibits allowing
you to explore the scientific world. The staff at the Science Centre are
trained scientists and communicators and are always on hand to explain
and help you, making your day out all the more enjoyable.
One of the most popular things is the live show guaranteed to intrigue
and entertain you. Also available are workshops, the Scottish power planetarium
and of course a café and restaurant. Toilet facilities are also
available.
